“We are in the custom hosiery space. So we make custom socks. It’s small, not a lot of competitors here. Southeast USA made, custom low batch manufacturing. And we pride ourselves on being part of that history.”
Based in Albemarle, North Carolina, On Foot Innovations combines craftsmanship with fully automated robotic knitting systems. The company’s approach allows it to deliver high quality socks faster than most competitors, serving clients that range from fashion brands to universities.
“Some of our yarns are up to like 16 weeks, 20 weeks out. So there’s no way for us to fix the problem quickly if we can’t project what we’re actually going to use. Without perfect inventory, we’ll always run out of yarn.”
Before Digit, On Foot Innovations managed purchasing, production, and inventory data through spreadsheets and email.
“Before Digit, all POs were being sent to vendors in email. When you have three people sending POs, it becomes a pain to check anything for validity upon receipt of shipment,” says Co Founder Ben Jones. “Now that every PO is contained in Digit, across all functions, we can easily see what we ordered, what we received, and what’s still open.”
The team also relied on manual cycle counts that often produced inaccurate inventory reports, which made it difficult to plan materials and production confidently.
“I built a lot of the spreadsheets and software that we used before. So whenever we actually went into using Digit’s inventory system, the ease of scanning products into and out of locations, creating shipments, and actually reporting on production has been great.”
Implementation was fast and straightforward.
“We had our entire warehousing and inventory system set up with Digit in a single four hours on a Saturday,” says Jones.
By using scannable rack locations, real time work order visibility, and accurate production reporting, On Foot Innovations replaced disconnected spreadsheets with a single live source of truth.
“Just the other day, we had a 60 pair order that we were able to pull into our system, do all the artwork, check material availability, and get shipped within four days, which is unheard of.”
Digit gave On Foot Innovations visibility that transformed how it plans, produces, and ships orders.
Key outcomes:
In October 2025, the Albemarle team produced more than 35,000 pairs of socks on just 11 machines.
“Digit software added clarity to the chaos,” says Jones. “We used Digit every day, helping most critically with job progress and raw material management.”
“Digit has allowed On Foot Innovations to make huge strides in efficiency within our operations. One of the biggest things for us is data integrity. Whenever you do things on paper, you can’t rely on any of that data. With Digit, everything from our inventory, our production data, it’s all the word of truth. I can trust it. I can rely on it.”

“Since we have a rather complex product SKUing system, accurate BOMs and productive material forecasting has always been a problem. We have plans with Digit to take away this thorn and discuss the automation details to support the effective implementation of this process.”
On Foot Innovations continues to work with the Digit team to automate BOM creation, improve material forecasting, and track outsourced work orders.
“We’re deeply proud of what we’ve built,” says Jones. “Contributing to North Carolina’s manufacturing legacy and the Made in America story that Digit and so many of your other partners are advancing together.”
